Prevention
Mercy Care's Prevention Department works with community coalitions and contracts with providers across the county to offer programs on substance abuse and suicide prevention across the lifespan. These programs aim to reduce underage drinking, youth marijuana use, prescription drug misuse and abuse, and suicide.
Each of our partner coalitions assesses the needs of their community and gathers input on what factors contribute to these issues. Then, they work to put in place programs that are culturally relevant, are proven to work based on data, and sustainable. Our programs include a combination of approaches from education to policy change, and services are offered for youth, families, and community members in a variety of settings. What makes us unique is that we serve communities and individuals, not enrolled members.
